Bradley Wiggins out
Last week, it was difficult to watch the exit of the team leader, Bradley Wiggins, whose crash ended his tour. His broken collarbone – however painful - is thankfully a common injury in cycling. With surgery scheduled for today, everyone at IG Markets wishes him all the best for a speedy recovery to the top of the sport.
The remaining eight riders in the squad aim to continue the momentum of an otherwise-successful first week, which included the white jersey for a week, three in the top 10 of Général Classement – the overall position of riders - and a stage win. In Wiggins’ absence the other riders can look to steal the limelight, ensuring the excitement continues for the remainder of the tour.
Over 21 days and 3500 kilometres, the Tour features 22 cycling teams, progressing from the beautiful Passage du Gois and finishing down the Champs-Elysees. IG Markets are there every step of the way, as a proud sponsor of Team Sky.
